How to Ride

Riding with NRTA is easy and convenient. If you’ve just arrived on Nantucket, start your journey at the Greenhound Building, our downtown hub located at 10 Washington Street, where you'll find a comfortable waiting area, restrooms, and helpful WAVE Information Aides.

To ride, simply arrive at your designated bus stop 10 minutes early and clearly signal the driver. Have your exact change ready, as drivers do not provide change.

For your safety, please remain seated and behind the white line until the bus comes to a complete stop.

NRTA is committed to providing accessible transportation for all. Our vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts, and we offer ADA complementary paratransit service. Trained service animals are welcome on board.

If you need assistance or have questions, please call us at (508) 325-5113 or visit the Greenhound Building during operating hours.

Ride with Your Bike!

Bringing your bike along on your WAVE journey is easy and convenient with our bike racks, available on all vehicles. Here's what you need to know:

  • Each bus accommodates up to two standard 2-wheeled bicycles on the front bumper rack
  • Load and unload your bike yourself, or ask the driver for assistance
  • Return the rack to its upright position after unloading the last bike
  • No locking bikes to the rack
  • Bicycles are not allowed inside the bus
  • First-come, first-served basis
  • No additional fare for your bicycle
