Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

The Nantucket Regional Transit Authority seeks to provide governmental transparency to the fullest extent of the Public Records Law.  On June 3, 2016, the legislature enacted, Chapter 121 of the Acts of 2016 effective January 1, 2017. View legal document.

Before making a request, first look to see if the information you are interested in is already publicly available on our website.

If the information you are interested in is not publicly available you can submit a FOIA request to the NRTA’s Records Access Officer (ROA).  Requests for public records shall include a reasonable description of the requested record so that the ROA can identify and locate it promptly.

The NRTA may assess a reasonable fee for the production of records other than those “freely available for public inspection”.

Requests may be made by hand, first class mail and e-mail.  Telephone requests may be accepted at the discretion of the ROA.  Written requests may be delivered by a requestor to the business address or designated email address of the ROA.
